The Economic Forum For Family Empowerment Scotland Visit To Scottish Parliament

Yesterday February 19th, 2025, members of The Economic Forum for Family Empowerment Scotland embarked on an all exciting and educative excursion trip to the Scottish Parliament.

This trip was not just an opportunity to admire the stunning and historic Parliament building, but also a chance for members to actively engage with the democratic process.

The day kicked off with a guided tour of the Parliament, where members learned about the architecture, history, and operations of Scotland’s legislative body. The guide shared fascinating insights, explaining the significance of various areas within the building, such as the renowned Debating Chamber and the beautiful Main Hall.

Our members were captivated by the unique design elements, which incorporated symbolism reflecting Scotland’s culture and values.

After the tour, our members attended a live parliamentary session, witnessing democracy in action. This firsthand experience allowed both children and adults to observe the debates, discussions, and decision-making processes that impact the lives of Scottish citizens. The atmosphere was electric as they watched elected representatives express their views, advocate for their constituents, and debate important issues facing Scotland today.

A standout moment of the trip was the question-and-answer session with two notable Members of the Scottish Parliament—Kaukab Stewart, MSP for the Minister for Equalities, and Angela Constance, MSP for Cabinet Secretary for Justice and Home Affairs.

Joined by MSP Clare Adamson (Motherwell and Wishaw Constituency), this session provided a unique opportunity for the children to voice their thoughts and concerns directly to influential policymakers.

The children asked a variety of insightful questions, ranging from topics like gender equality, social justice, and rights of immigrants . Both Ms. Stewart and Ms.

Constance responded with enthusiasm, emphasizing the importance of listening to young voices in governance and sharing valuable insights.

This trip not only served as an educational experience but also strengthened the bonds within the community, empowering families to be informed citizens and advocates for their rights..
