CONNECTING COMMUNITIE THROUGH SHARED STORIES PROJECT GRAND FINALE EVENT.

The grand finale event of the Economic Forum for Family Empowerment Scotland “Connecting Communities through Shared Stories project” was a vibrant and colorful celebration of culture and heritage. The event which was held on the 6th of April, 2025 at the Jim Foley Community Centre in Wishaw, Motherwell, was a testament to the power of unity and diversity.

The event featured a stunning display of traditional activities and performances, including the energetic dances of the Ogene Igbo group and the mesmerizing Atilogwu dance by the Rising Stars, the young wimg of the organisation. The Ogene Igbo group brought alive the spirit of the Igbo culture with their vibrant music and dance, while the Rising Stars showcased the rich tapestry of Nigerian traditions with their elegant Atilogwu performance.

Councillor Anne Thomas, the guest speaker for the event and a representative of Ward 18, Motherwell North, lauded the project for its positive impact on individuals and the wider community. She commended the organization for its dedication to serving humanity and fostering a sense of unity and understanding.

The event was a true melting pot of cultures, with Scottish, Ghanian and Asian families joining in the festivities and sharing their own unique cultural expressions as it was a resounding success, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds to celebrate their shared humanity and cultural heritage. It was a fitting culmination of the Shared Stories project, which has connected communities and enriched lives through the power of storytelling and cultural exchange with lots of traditional delicious delicacies to eat and drinks.
