As a form of our community-social responsibility towards giving back to the community and service to humanity, The Ejiro Books Empowerment Foundation took interest to one Miss Eriegha Jane Oghenevwaire, a young lady who was diagnosed of kidney illness at Mount Horeb Clinic And Dialysis Center.
The illness which is called “Autoimmune disease” is a rare situation and a condition in which ones immune system mistakenly damages healthy cells in the body. The cause of the illness is unknown and common among female between the age of 15 and 44. The effects are damage to the kidney ,lungs etc and can lead to death with no possible remedy. The life expentancy of a patient with the illness can be expected to live full life with no shortening of typical life expectancy.but only with the right dialysis and treatment.
The team which was led by the National director Hon. Chief Mercy Awhana (JP) in company of Mr. Aghogho Okorogri, had one on one discussion with Mr Udoh Christopher Aniekan and Mercy Aimuan (Hospital administrative staffs) on the health condition of the patient. They gave us a brief medical history and health condition of the patient Miss Eriegha Jane Oghenevwaire,
In further enquring of the true health condition of the patient from the medical team in charge of her, our team spoke with the Head Consultant Nephrologist Dr. Raph ,O and assistant Dr. Jimoh. Dr. Jimoh gave us a detailed information of the health comdition of the patient.
He told us that each dialysis session costs ₦50,000.00 (Fifty thousand naira) and the patient was undergoing 2 sessions in 8 (Eight) days. The worst condition in correcting her condition is a transplant which costs around ₦18,000,000.00 (Eighteen million naira) in their facility and outside the facility will cost around ₦23,000,000.00 (Twenty million naira)”.
We then moved to the Intensive care ward where the patient is to see her, there we met her parents and siblings.
The National Director, Mrs Hon. Chief Mercy Alakis Awhana, spoke with them and encouraged them with words and told them on how the founder of the Organisation, Mrs Angela Ejiro Nduka is working hard to see how to assist the patient with fundings talking to friends, partners and organisations in supporting the family in this time of their grief by donating financially towards elevating the huge financial burden. She made them to understand that she feels their pains and will do her best to see that Miss Eriegha Jane Oghenevwaire is back on her feet again.
Mr Aghogho Okorogri then prayed with them and also encouraged them to stay strong and put their hope and trust in the process and God. The organisation did paid some part of the finance incurred.
